At this point in the scout year, it is recommended that you go ahead and start training for the position you will have next year. For Tiger leaders, this typically means that you should be signing up for Cub leader training (Wolf/Bear) and for Bear leaders, the next step is Webelos (note that there is additional outdoor training recommended for Webelos leaders).
It has been brought to my attention that some of the local districts are not getting all their training information onto the council web site. Here are a few links that might be useful. I'll try to get the relevant info posted to our web site calendars soon, but it might take a few days for me to find time for this, so I wanted to go ahead and get the info out right away so everyone can start checking their calendars. (If you ever hear about training within Occoneechee Council that I don't have listed on our web site, please let me know so I can add it.)
Orange District calendar of events:

http://selfandassociates.com/bsaorange/documents/training/New%20Leader%20Essentials3-3-2008.pdfThere is a lot more listed on the calendar, but there are a lot of TBD items on this "final" version of their calendar and their web site is very difficult to navigate. I'm glad I saved the NLE link when I found it because I can't find it now.
Mawat District training web site:

I did my NLE and Webelos LST through Mawat and was very pleased with the trainers. They are extremely experienced scouters who are also good at leading training.
For the new leaders, there is more information about training requirements on our web site at
http://pack352nc.org/training.aspx and I try to track all Cub Scout specific training in the Occoneechee Council on our leader calendar at
http://pack352nc.org/Calendar_Leaders.aspx. The information above has not been added to this yet, but there are a few other course offerings on the calendar.
If anyone is interested in becoming an instructor for any of these classes, there is a Trainer Development Conference on March 1. It would be great to have a couple of instructors in the pack.
