Pack 352 Activities

Den meetings allow the cub scouts to work in small groups to learn, create, and prepare for pack events. Pack activities involve all the dens in projects and events for everyone. This page contains general information about scouting events. Check the Pack 352 Calendar for upcoming events.

Hiking

A hike is more than a walk. When you hike, you go exploring. Hikes are scheduled throughout the year as den outings and pack activities. They are also generally included in camp-outs. For a fun and safe hike, pay attention to the distance and effort estimates for the hike, wear proper hiking clothes, and pack the outdoor essentials.

Camping

For some scouts, a pack camp-out is an introduction to the outdoors. For others, camping is a natural part of life. No matter what their experience level, camping together as a pack offers new and exciting adventures for everyone. They learn to set up camp, help with camp cooking, hike in the woods, fish in the lake, participate in the pack campfire program, see a lot more stars than at home, and roast marshmallows over a roaring fire. Camp-outs are also a great opportunity to get to know your fellow scouts better.

Pinewood Derby

The Pinewood Derby is a scouting tradition. Each cub scout starts with a standard block of wood and wheels. Using his imagination and a little help with the tools, he shapes the wood into a derby car. All the scouts get together at the Pack Pinewood Derby to race their cars against each other. Prizes are awarded for Speed, Craftsmanship, and Originality, with the top cars advancing to the Falls District Pinewood Derby. Pack 352 was well represented among the district winners, but more importantly, it was a lot of fun!

Raingutter Regatta

Like the Pinewood Derby, the Raingutter Regatta allows the scouts to create a unique vehicle to race at a pack event. Each cub scout starts with a kit. The hull is preshaped and comes with all the necessary accessories. The scouts add all the fun and energy. Races are held on gutters with wind power provided by the scouts. Prizes are awarded for Speed, Scout Theme, and Originality.

Scout Night at the Durham Bulls

Scout Night includes a scout parade, a Durham Bulls baseball game, fireworks after the game, and even camping on the field for the more adventurous baseball fans.
